WAIPS improvements mean more work for local businesses

Monday, 23 November 2020

The McGowan Government has announced improvements to the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS). These changes aim to ensure more government contracts and funds are awarded to local WA businesses.

The aim of WAIPS is to create more jobs and opportunities for WA businesses. Mark McGowan stated that currently 90% of the WAIPS projects have been made up of local suppliers, and the aim is to increase this even further.

The government has simplified the WAIPS application process for prospective suppliers to ensure more Aboriginal businesses can supply to the government.
