Keeping remote communities safe

Thursday, June 04, 2020

The Commonwealth Government is lifting the current Biosecurity Region zone restrictions over the Kimberley  on 5th June.

But the State Government restrictions remain in place for remote Aboriginal communities to help keep them safe.

Under the State of Emergency, tourists and other travellers are not allowed to enter any remote Aboriginal community in Western Australia. So tourism operators in the Dampier Peninsula are not permitted to recommence.

It’s important everyone respects and adheres to these restrictions (and there a penalties of up to $50,000 for individuals and $250,000 for corporate bodes,  if the rules are broken).

For more information, call 13 COVID (13 268 43) or visit wa.gov.au

(Based on information supplied by The State Pandemic Coordination Centre).
