Last week, the Morrgul team had the privilege of visiting Dr Juli Coffin at Yawardani Jan-ga (“Horses Helping”) in Broome.

Yawardani Jan-ga has been operating for more than six years, supporting Aboriginal young people to access culturally safe social and emotional wellbeing support through hands-on Equine Assisted Learning and On Country therapeutic approaches.

Delivered by the Aboriginal-led charity Yawarda Services, the program is grounded in years of research and lived experience. Its core purpose is to strengthen wellbeing, mental health, and connection for Aboriginal young people, building confidence and emotional regulation skills that carry through to home, school and community.
At the newly established site overlooking Reddell Beach, Juli shared a tour of the facilities and facilitated an introductory group session; the first for 2026. With new stables nearing completion and ongoing grounds work, this year is shaping up to be an exciting one for the program.
Morrgul has been supporting Yawarda Services through funding applications and grant strategy development, and we value the opportunity to better understand and support this important work.
