Record number of contracts awarded to Aboriginal businesses

As part of the government’s Aboriginal Procurement Policy, the McGowan government committed to award 2% of all government contracts to Aboriginal businesses.

Yesterday it was announced that this target was nearly tripled, with 5.5% of government contracts being awarded to Aboriginal businesses for the 2019-20 financial year.

Aboriginal businesses were awarded 234 contracts over the period, for a total of $172 million. Regional Aboriginal businesses made up 60% of the contracts awarded.

106 Aboriginal businesses were engaged with during the financial year.

Morrgul continues to support Aboriginal regional businesses under the Aboriginal Procurement Policy. In the same 2019-2020 financial year period, Morrgul supported 187 Aboriginal businesses, with 141 of those assisted with procurement and tendering for government contracts.
